Running a Responsible Business

Serco consists of over 600 separate contracts – each run with a high degree of autonomy, as if it were a business in its own right.

So how do we manage to operate with a single vision, strategy and values?

How do we ensure that every part of Serco achieves the same high standards of corporate governance and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements?

And how do we apply consistent principles of integrity and business ethics to all our activities around the world?

We aim to encourage staff at all levels to engage with local community initiatives, and channels support from the company through staff volunteers.

A Responsible View

To us, corporate social responsibility is how we try to interact, beneficially, with those whom our business affects. We believe that a socially responsible company will seek out, indentify and address the concerns of all our stakeholders. We aim to be a socially responsible organisation and are continually cooperating and supporting different projects.

Occupational Health and Safety Charter

In September 2003, we signed an Occupational Safety Charter with the Labour Department, Occupational Safety & Health Council, and our customers to demonstrate our commitment to Health & Safety in all areas where we operate. Our aim is to inform, stimulate and lead in promoting safety.

Rehabilitation Services - Supported Employment

We care about our services and the society we live in. One of the ways we do this is by providing employment opportunities for people with disabilities who are able to fulfill job requirements. This has resulted in benefits for both the individuals and for Serco. We are currently running a support employment project at our hospital contracts, in conjunction with Mental Health Association of Hong Kong. The project has helped the public and our staff recognize that many people with disabilities possesses tremendous skills and talent in performing daily tasks.

Caring Company 2002-2008

We were nominated as a "Caring Company" for more than 5 years. Caring Company is a collaboration platform for business and social service sector. Helping individuals, companies and organisations to join hands in building a more caring society.

IVE Student Attachment Program

In every summer, we have participated in the Student Attachment Program organising by Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi). Provideing on-job training placements opportunity for Year-2 business school students.
